"(Not Responding)" comes up all of the time
I am using an old (2005) laptop which is running XP, and the "(Not Responding)" comes up all of the time. When it comes up, the pages of course stop responding, and sometimes become black temporarily. It particularly happens when I am doing a couple of things at once, usually including the internet. It effects everything from internet, to control panel, to most other applications and happens all of the time. Along with this, things take forever to initialize, especially Firefox. I know it has a lot to do with my computer's age, but I was wondering if there could be anything else wrong and anything I could do.1 person needs an answerI do too

How much RAM does your computer have? Also, if you do RUN, MSCONFIG, what is loading in startup?

I have a measly 480 mb of RAM. Would more ram be the best solution? There are a lot of things running at startup.

More RAM always helps but for now, I would shut off items in your startup. If you post a list of items, I can help you.
